Oil Wellhead Automation


Application: Complete Site Control of Oil Wells in the Bakken Shale Formation of ND.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Description: Well sites in ND with high H2S levels pose safety risks to employees charged with manually gauging tanks for level.  Additionally, the risk of spills and resulting environmental impact is a serious concern.

 

Solution: Winn-Marion's solution uses Totalflow XRC supervisory control of oil wells with Lufkin SAM Pump-Off controllers.  These wells produce oil, natural gas, and water.  The liquids are stored in three tanks (3-oil, 1-water) on-site with ABB Totalflow LevelMaster  for custody transfer and over-fill spill prevention.  LevelMasters communicate via WellTell wireless to the XRC across the well pad.   When high level is detected, the XRC sends a signal to the SAM to shut down the Pump-Jack and also closes the main valve at the wellhead. The XRC is also monitoring casing and tubing pressure and will shut in the well if the set points are reached.
